Our Pillars
Eight interconnected pillars guide everything OPAD does
OPAD's philosophy on poverty alleviation, human rights, climate change, gender equality, localization, and youth and women's empowerment is not negotiable. We want to see a total, equitable world — free from human suffering, with a better climate for everyone.
Children need hope, protection, and guidance at their most vulnerable age. Too many are denied the basic comforts of childhood — safety, nourishment, and the chance to simply be kids. Your support helps restore hope and bring a lasting smile to their faces.

Every child deserves to grow up free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. OPAD works with local partners to strengthen child protection systems, support safe caregiving environments, and ensure children have access to the health care and support services they need to thrive.

Climate change is already here — the sooner we respond, the less damage will be done to our society, economy, and environment. We focus on mitigation and adaptation, working to minimize climate change impact in the communities we serve.

Human rights are strained in many places across the globe. OPAD raises its voice and helps those who cannot help themselves, advocating for the fundamental rights and dignity of every person, particularly in vulnerable and marginalized communities.

Empowering youth and women is central to breaking the cycle of poverty. When young people and women have access to training, mentorship, and economic opportunity, they become creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs driving self-sustaining livelihoods.

Roughly 70 percent of the world's poorest people live under the weight of gender inequity. OPAD works to close this gap, promoting equal opportunity in education, economic participation, and leadership for women and girls.

Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty. OPAD supports access to quality education and learning opportunities that equip children, youth, and adults with the skills to build better futures.

Poverty is the fight OPAD has been waging endlessly. We promote a bottom-up approach in all of our development interventions — one that requires accurate information paired with a results-oriented response. OPAD is one of the implementers of Beneficiary-Led Aid (BLA).
Support This PillarAcross every pillar, OPAD strives for the inclusion of the people we serve in our community engagement strategies — a practice known as localization. Solutions are designed and led with communities, not simply delivered to them, so that the people most affected by poverty have a genuine voice in how it's addressed.
